Clasically Modern

Barrington, RI

When our clients envisioned a 4,000-square-foot addition to their existing home, they hired Greg Snider and then left the interior details to us — a rare degree of creative control that we didn't take lightly.

The brief: contemporize the addition, modernize the existing house and let nothing compete with the sprawling water view. The kitchen became the heart: custom built by Jutras Woodworking, complete with islands for work and entertaining; this was ideal for summer hosting. Living, sitting, breakfast and library spaces flow naturally from one to another and the primary bath was designed as a complete refuge.

Materiality mattered: gold-leaf glass mosaic, textured porcelain, light green onyx and a rotating cast of woods — makore, bamboo, sycamore, walnut—layer seamlessly together. Modern Italian and French furnishings throughout.

A rare project, where nearly every interior detail was ours to imagine.
